How To Know It's Time To Replace Your Air Conditioner

Hot weather is coming if not here already. Your air conditioning will soon be working overtime to keep you comfortable when at home. So how do you know when it’s time to replace your system? Just answer these questions:

HOW OLD IS YOUR SYSTEM?

Typically, air conditioning units last 10-15 years. So how long has it been since yours has been replaced?

DO YOU KEEP UP WITH MAINTENANCE?

Like any complicated piece of machinery, your air conditioning and furnace need to be checked, cleaned and the filters changed periodically.

ARE YOU GETTING COLD ENOUGH AIR?

This one is pretty obvious, but if you aren’t getting cold air coming through the vents, that should tell you something.

HOW’S THE AIR FLOW?

If the air is cold but not blowing hard, that’s another sign you need a repair or new system.

HOW DOES YOUR SYSTEM SOUND?

Just like with your car, noises mean something is off. Can you hear a grinding, rattling, bang or squealing?

ARE SOME PARTS OF THE HOUSE COOL AND OTHERS NOT?

This could be a thermostat problem, but it also might be the air conditioning itself.
